Poor customer service! My contract was changed by another person, I was not informed!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Mar 17, 2023

I contacted Globus and selected a trip to Italy for April 2023 (Invoice # 904201). I selected "Single" because I wanted to be in a room by myself, as my previous trips with Globus and other travel companies (I am always "Solo").

I have other family members going with me, they have their own reservations, and we are not "sharing" rooms. My original contract has "single", as it should, since this is what I requested. Another relative decided to join us (without my knowledge) later. The travel agent placed her in my "single" room, based on the relative suggestion, unbeknownst to me!.

I had made payments on my trip, and paid it off in January. I knew I had a "0" balance invoice, once my last payment was made. I was not aware there was a change in my "reservation", especially, since I did not make any changes.

I was notified on March 9, that I had to pay a "single supplement" for $670 and it must be paid by March 10 (within 1 day) or my trip would be "canceled". Again, I have an invoice from Globus - stating I owe "0".

I was traveling at the time I received this notification. I immediately called, Globus, and was informed that "guest canceled her trip, and that since she was "sharing my room", I now have to pay the entire "single supplement" payment of $670, or my trip will be canceled, and no refund will be given.

I was devastated and confused. I was not aware that guest was going on this trip, and even more importantly, I was not aware that she was "sharing" my room. Globus was aware of this change in August, when the conversation took place with the agent and the guest.

The agent never verified this with me (the person who reserved the room, who asked and was paying for "single supplement"), she just made the change! I never had a conversation with anyone regarding any changes to "My Reservation". Globus stated they sent a new "invoice" to me that had "twin" on it and not "single". If that invoice was sent - I never looked at that, nor would I have paid attention to "twin" vs "single".

I did not make any changes, so I would not be looking for any changes, again to "my" contract.

Globus should not be in the practice of changing someone's reservation, based on a conversation they had with another party - who is not the "owner of the contract". This is truly unacceptable and should have never happened. Supposed it was a call from my "ex-husband" and he decided to call Globus to share my room?? Globus would have done the same thing - added him to my reservation, without my approval.

This is a very dangerous practice. The hotel industry stopped giving out the names and room numbers of its guests for this reason. The hotel industry would place a "call" to the guest to make certain it is okay to send a guest to the room, to not give out the room number of that guest. Globus neglected to practice "safety" when it came to this matter.

I called Globus and I spoked to a "supervisor" Janet Schubert.

She believes that Globus was justified in putting the "guest" in my room, based on the conversation the "guest had with the agent, Karen. Janet did not see a reason or concern for my situation, furthermore, I had to pay the amount of $670 immediately, based on the actions that Globus took. Janet, never apologized nor did the agent. She took $25 off the amount as "good" deed.

Again, this is unacceptable practice, and I am not pleased.

I am very disturbed by this practice of Globus and I asked for compensation or to waive the fee of $670, or at least waived most of the fee, because again, I thought my trip was paid off in January, as my invoice stated. Globus made a mistake and was neglect for allowing someone to change "my contract", and doing so caused me to pay at the last minute, adding undo pressure on me. Had I known, the balance changed, I would have made monthly payments. I do not like last minute invoices.

I am not disputing the "single supplement" payment of $670. It is the "principle" of the matter. I am disappointed that I was forced to come up with this amount or my trip would be canceled; and that Globus changed my reservation without my knowledge and rushed me to correct their mistake/error, by coming up with the money, all at once, at the last hour, or force my trip to be canceled without providing me with a refund.

Again, I did nothing wrong to deserve this type of treatment! I paid my trip off based on the information I had, again, why was my contract changed based on a conversation an agent had with someone on the telephone?

I want Globus to take some responsibility for the harm which I suffered, and to show some sympathy for what happened and to compensate for this mess they created. I purposely travel "solo" for this reason, because I am in control of my trip and the payment is not determined by others. Globus failed me on this, and I am very fearful of booking any more trips with this company - if this is their practice...to change a guest reservations based on another stranger's conversation, without consulting the "paid" guest. No one contacted me, or consider, what "I" wanted, the person, who initiated the trip to Italy.

I have 4 others going on this trip with me, so Globus is making more money, off of my recommendations, but, yet, Globus feel comfortable mistreating me, by being rude and ignoring my concerns and only seeing "money", which had to be paid "urgently".

One unhappy customer!

Barbara

I truly thought highly of Globus, and had previously gone on 2 trips with this company. I was already looking at another trip after Italy. In addition, I had at least 3 - 4 friends book trips with Globus based on my recommendations.

Now, I am disappointed! This practice of changing reservations without the consent of the guest, is unjustifiable and disturbing, especially if it impacts financials.

User's recommendation: Communication! Contact the person to make certain he/she authorized a change in her trip contract. Or, have both parties on the line, when making changes to anyone’s contract, who has requested the change. Or asked for the change in “writing” and it most come from the person, who initiated the contract.

Became extremely sick dropped off at Navaho clinic and informed we would have to make it back to the group on our own. He did give us the # of a Globus tour bus coming through the following day. Never had contact after that. We could have stayed in Moab but never offered. Safer than Indian clinic since it is not a hospital. We eventually got transferred to hospital in Phoenix. Still no contact from Globus to help with situation or refunds . Very dissatisfied !

Sickness from food supplied

Its been a month since my review and Globus has not attempted to contact me. They left me at a nice Indian Clinic and said we have to find our own way back to the group. Never tried calling or contact us regarding my health situation. They just washed their hands of the problem.

Disappointed in many aspects of Great Lakes/Mackinac Island Tour

Globus - Disappointed in many aspects of Great Lakes/Mackinac Island Tour
Updated by user Jul 29, 2022

Nothing has changed since the review was written.

Original review Jul 28, 2022
Lots of feedback:
1. The tour seemed quite overpriced given what was provided.

The meals that were included were mediocre and the German dinner was too big on quantity and lacking in quality ... and a wine tasting with 3 sips isn't a wine tasting.
2. The first part of the tour after leaving Dearborn before getting to Mackinaw City was very disappointing - the hotels, the sites visited, the lack of anything on Lake Huron which we didn't see until we got to Mackinac City where Huron and Michigan meet.
3. Our guide was good on history and information but not good on attending to needs ...

struggled with logistical issues like the wagons on Mackinac Island.
4. I injured my knee/leg disembarking from the carriage at the Grand Hotel and immediately informed our guide;another member of the tour also fell backwards off a carriage. When I called GLOBUS to change my return plane reservation 2 days later, neither injury had been reported; when I mentioned to our guide, he said he wished I hadn't made the call.
5. I returned with COVID, testing positive 2 days later.

I called GLOBUS to report and inform the other passengers. That was never done.
So many others on our tour had used GLOBUS previously and said they were disappointed in this tour and how it played out.

AON INSURANCE HARASSMENT SCAM

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Dear AON Affinity,

I believe this has become harassment. This has been going on for over 6 months.

The goal being I give up and you do not need to pay a claim. I was not able to travel one time with Gate 1, the claim was processed in one week. Globus needs to be aware of the harassment your company engages in when a claim is filed. I have requested and received 3 documents from a medically licensed certified and highly qualified professional physician employed by Allina national health system.

You continue to request additional documentation. The insurance plan was included with my tour fee. I was given the option to cancel for any reason, of which I selected. I was seriously ill and could not travel which has been repeatedly documented for you by the licensed MD.

This has been the most frustrating ineffective situation I have ever actually paid money to experience.

My physician submitted three requested forms. I am shocked that you continue to request more documentation. I am convinced your plan is an insurance scam. I am going to submit a review on any travel site I can find unless this claim is resolved.

Dear Mrs.

Boegeman:

It has come to our attention that the additional information requested has not been received to date.

Therefore we are closing your claim at this time. However, your claim may be reopened at any time by you simply submitting this required documentation to us.

Since Russia has invaded Ukraine, PissedConsumer.com cant stay aside. With this review, we present our teams opinion only - nothing more than that.

We as an organization always defend the freedom of speech by providing a platform for consumers to voice their opinions and to talk about any problems they may have with various businesses.

Today, we want to give voice to the tragedy of the people of Ukraine and let the world know the truth.

A lot of major companies suspended their business in russia not to support the war.

However, there are still large international corporations that continue operating and paying taxes in russia.

Taxes that are used to finance the army of the aggressor. With this video, we want to show the consequences of such a decision for civilians in Ukraine and ask these companies to stop doing business in russia.
